When it comes to religion there are many different faiths to be found in India. In fact, India is known for its diverse population and the many religions that can be found there. From Hindus to Buddhists, Christians, Muslims, and Sikhs, India’s population see religion as tolerance and as a part of who they are as a nation. They believe that it is important to respect the religious beliefs of others even if they are not the same as their own.

Hinduisim
Known to be over 4,000 years old, Hinduism is believed to be the world’s oldest religion and the 3rd largest religion in the world behind Christianity and Islam. Hinduism embraces many religious ideas and most Hindus are henotheistic where they only worship one deity “Brahman”. Hindus also believe in the doctrine of Samsara which is the continuous cycle of life and death. As well as Karma the universal law of the cause and effect of one’s actions.
Islam
Islam was thought to be created in the 7th century which makes it one of the youngest world religions. Although it is a younger religion it is the second-largest religion in the world after Christianity. The followers of Islam are called Muslims and worship one God who is called Allah. Muslims look to live a lifestyle where they are in complete submission to Allah. In fact, the word Islam means submission to the will of god.
Christianity
This religion stems from the life teachings of Jesus Christ. It is the world’s largest religion with more than 2 billion believers. Christians must put their trust in Jesus Christ and also live their lives governed by believing their own faith. In fact, Christianity is more of a generated culture than it is just a religion. The largest groups that exist within Christianity include the Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox churches, and the Protestant churches.
While there are a few other religions that those living in India may practice like Sikh and Jain, Islam, Christianity, and Hinduism are the 3 largest religions and the most popular. With the idea that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, India has created a culture that allows every individual who is a part of its population to revel in their faith and religious beliefs with no judgment. If more countries could be open to appreciating the many religions throughout the world we may just have a more unified planet.
